We’re working with Vision Zero Vancouver to support a motion coming to Vancouver council on July 24th to add bus lanes on many of Vancouver’s most congested bus corridors. The motion also includes a request to the province to allow automated bus lane enforcement, which would ensure bus lanes are kept free from general traffic.

This includes bus lanes on:

  • Powell St and McGill St (4, 7, 209, 210, 211, 214)
  • Hastings upgraded to all day lanes (R5, 14, 16, 20, 28, 130, 222)
  • 4th Ave between NW Marine Dr and Vine St (4, 7, 14, 42, 44, 84)
  • Main St and Kingsway (3, 8, 19, 25, 26)
  • 2nd Ave and 6th Ave (84)
  • Broadway and 10th (8, 9, 14, 99)
  • 16th Ave between Blanca St and Dunbar St (25, 33)
  • King Edward Ave (25)
  • 41st Ave around Dunbar Loop (R4, 2, 49)
  • 49th Ave between Granville and Boundary (49, 430)
  • Marine Dr (3, 10, 17, 80, 100)
Graph showing road space compared to mode share.

Despite transit riders making up a significant percentage of road users (18% in 2019), they receive very little dedicated road space (1%). This means that buses are slower, more unreliable and less frequent than they could be with priority.

If you see your bus listed above, bus lanes on any part will make the whole route more reliable! We need your help to support the motion at council on July 24th, please see Vision Zero Vancouver’s website for more details here if you’re interested.
